The Hilton hotel played host to two musical legends Friday night, as inventor, author and Kurzweil founder Ray Kurzweil celebrated his 25th anniversary of working with Stevie Wonder.
At a private reception, Kurzweil addressed a smattering of VIP dealers and members of the press as Wonder paid a surprise visit. “In 1984, we launched the Kurzweil K250,” Kurzweil said. “Steve acted as an advisor to us. “Many have contributed to this project, and I want to thank you all. But most of all, I want to thank you, Steve.” He then presented Wonder with the PC3K, his company’s new flagship synth. “We’ve had this long, wonderful friendship,” Wonder said. “It’s been great not only for us as friends but for this technology you’ve created.”
Wonder asked for a moment of silence for those who lost their lives in the Haiti earthquake this week before ending the night with a jam on the PC3K.
